Guess what guys, this weekend I’ve found a fighting game I’ve actually… ENJOYEDEH?!??
The thing that usually turns me off in fighting games is how dull the fights seem, once you’ve seen all the moves your character can perform it loses its coolness, and when the flashy fightyness loses its value you see the gameplay for what it is, two clunky fighters trying to get close enough to the other enemy to hit them. It’s so boring! But Blazblue is different.
I absolutely love that the Japanese aspects of the game haven’t been toned down at all, all breast-jokes, sexual references, incest allusions and other stuff that is usually cut out of western releases are still very much in tact. It was a very brave thing for the publisher to do and I salute them for it. Litchi’s boobs are epic, I literally feel like I’m watching hentai just by seeing them.
Naturally I went into Blazblue not expecting much, I think I was subconsciously just looking for something to whine about on my blog. The first thing I noticed about the game (apart from the awesome as balls logo) is how brilliantly designed the characters are. A lot of fighting games these days have characters that are overdesigned and make no sense, the style of characters like that have no rhythm and nothing to connect with, but all the fighters in Blazblue, whilst looking far from plain, have designs that fit together and create a believable (in terms of fiction) and unique character.
The presentation is absolutely top-notch, it can’t get any better with this in a fighting game, the animation is fantastic, extremely fluid and well put together. The fighting system is very fast paced, usually with the characters flying all over the screen, but it isn’t so fast paced that you’ll lose track of the battle.
I don’t know if I’ll write a review of this, there isn’t too much to say, ,it is what it is. I’ve found it extremely fun and I know I’ll have a blast unlocking all I can.
Play this one, peace out.
